A Refuge of Strength in Troubling Times
God offers us refuge and strength, always present to help when we face troubles, inviting us to find peace in His nearness.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Reflection
When difficulties arise, it can feel as though we stand alone against overwhelming challenges. Yet, the Psalmist reminds us that God is not distant or absent but is our refuge and strength — a sanctuary where we can find safety and courage. This divine presence is described as ‘very present,’ meaning God’s help is immediate and reliable, offering peace amid uncertainty. Trusting in God’s nearness allows our hearts to rest, understanding that no trouble is faced without His support. In God’s refuge, peace is not the absence of problems but the presence of His sustaining grace.
Put it into practice
Today, when anxiety or hardship comes, pause and consciously seek God’s refuge. Remember that He is your immediate and enduring help, and invite His peace to steady your heart through every challenge.
A prayer for today
Lord, thank you for being my refuge and strength, always ready to help when I’m in trouble. Help me to trust deeply in Your constant presence and to find peace in Your unfailing support throughout all difficulties. Amen.
