Daily devotion

Held Firm by God's Steady Hand

Trust grows when we remember that God guides our steps, delights in our journey, and supports us even when we stumble.

Smooth stepping stones crossing a clear stream, symbolizing trust and guidance.

A man’s goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand.

Psalms 37:23-24 (WEB)

Reflection

Life involves many steps forward and, sometimes, steps that feel like stumbles. The psalm reminds us that our journey is not left to chance or our own unsure footing. God establishes each step we take. This means that even when we face difficulties or falter, God remains present to hold us securely. The joy God finds in our way invites us to trust more deeply, knowing that our paths are meaningful and watched over. Trusting God in this way does not promise a stumble-free life but guarantees that when we fall, we will not be abandoned. We can rely on God's steady hand to lift us, restore us, and keep us moving forward with confidence and peace.

Put it into practice

When you feel uncertain or shaky in your decisions or daily walk, pause and remember God's presence establishing each step. Tell yourself, "I am held by God's hand even when I stumble," and allow that truth to build your trust and courage for what lies ahead.

A prayer for today

Gracious God, thank You for guiding my steps and delighting in my journey. When I stumble, remind me that I am not alone, for Your hand upholds me. Help me to trust Your steady presence each day and walk with courage. Amen.
