Choosing Faithful Service Today
Joshua's call challenges us to decide whom we will serve, reminding us that steadfast faithfulness to God is a personal, active choice affecting our lives and homes.

“If it seems evil to you to serve Yahweh, choose today whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh.””
Reflection
In Joshua 24:15, we encounter a decisive moment where Joshua confronts the people with a clear choice: whom will they serve? The gods of their ancestors or the gods of the land around them? Joshua’s unwavering declaration, ‘as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh,’ reveals his personal commitment and leadership in setting a godly example. This choice reflects faith in action, emphasizing that worship and allegiance are not inherited automatically but must be intentionally embraced. It challenges believers today to evaluate what holds their ultimate loyalty and to commit wholeheartedly to serving God. Standing firm means turning away from past influences or cultural pressures that draw us elsewhere and instead embracing God’s ways with conviction, knowing it shapes not only our lives but also those around us.
Put it into practice
Today, reflect on your own commitments. Where does your loyalty lie? Choose to reaffirm serving God, letting this dedication influence your daily decisions and the atmosphere in your home.
A prayer for today
Loving God, grant me clarity and courage to choose You above all. Help me serve You faithfully in my home and life, reflecting Your love and truth in all I do. Strengthen my resolve to walk in Your ways each day, for Your glory. Amen.
