Love as the Defining Mark of Discipleship
Jesus commands His followers to love one another just as He has loved them, establishing love as the authentic sign that identifies His disciples.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.””
Reflection
In John 13:34-35, Jesus gives a new command: to love each other as He has loved us. This love goes beyond simple kindness; it’s a deep, selfless commitment that shows Christ’s heart. Being recognized as His disciple depends more on genuine love than on words alone. When we love sincerely, we reflect Jesus’ character and offer a compelling witness to others. This love calls for humility, patience, and grace, urging us to put aside differences and embrace others with compassion. It challenges us to prioritize others’ needs and foster unity, proving that Christ dwells richly in us through love for one another.
Put it into practice
Today, actively seek ways to show love to those around you by practicing Christ-like patience, kindness, and intentional care in all your actions.
A prayer for today
Lord Jesus, teach me to love others as You have loved me. Help me to express this love through tangible acts that reflect Your heart and draw others closer to You. May my life clearly show that I belong to You through the love I share. Amen.
